Depression is more than feeling down or sad. It comes with physical symptoms too. Here’s how one depression sufferer has described it:

“For me it felt like a concrete truck had pulled up and unloaded into my head. It was just so heavy and totally seized up my brain. However, it didn’t stop at my head. The concrete oozed through every part of my body until every nook and cranny was stuffed full. It just felt like a nearly unbearable deadweight, double gravity pulled me down with everything I tried to do. Mixed in with the concrete there must have been some sort of toxin. As well as the concrete’s heaviness, the toxin installed the chronic ache, a pain that reached every cell of my body. The best I can do to explain it is to take the aching joints that come with a bad dose of the flu and apply it to your whole body.”
